The Thumb Tack grip: Designed by Chase Gouin
We’ve received some questions here and there about what makes the Flatware Thumb Tack grip flatland-specific. While there certainly isn’t anything about it that would hold you back from using it in other genres of BMX, the design and thought process behind it is what lends it to be most suitable for Flatland. To help explain it further, Chase Gouin wrote up a detailed analysis of the grip:

Since its introduction in 2005, the VERMONT sprocket has become a staple in the drive train category. For 2010, the five year anniversary, the VERMONT deserves an update. Following similar lines, The BURLINGTON sprocket is an improved, stiffer, stronger version of its predecessor, that also benefits from the new Incisor teeth profile.
Available now in Black, Gold, Blue and Red for 25t, 27t and 28t sizes. 23t is available in Black, with other colors coming soon.
To celebrate the Vermont sprocket’s 5 year anniversary, we gave it a bit of an upgrade and it is now dubbed Burlington. With similar lines as the original, the Burlington is stiffer, stronger and benefits from the new Incisor teeth profile (same profile as the Chainwheel). We have a new flatland specific grip available known as the Thumb Tack. It utilizes the same olastic rubber compound as the Adam Banton 2 grip so they’re soft to the touch and still very durable. Just like most of our other grips, the Thumb Tack comes with a pair of Par Ends! Available now in Black, White and Ocean Blue.

The CHAINWHEEL sprocket uses the new Incisor teeth profile. The look of the CHAINWHEEL should be obvious to anyone who rode bikes anytime before the last 10 years. Sprockets used to be made of two separate parts, the chainring and the spider. They were usually connected by 5 bolts, for quicker gearing changes at the racetrack. These days riders usually commit to a gear ratio, so a solid sprocket is stronger, lighter and smaller. We still liked the look, so we brought it back in the CHAINWHEEL. Like the chainrings its modeled after, you will have a range of sizes, including 25, 27, 28.
