Well, it’s officially flatland Friday for our Daily Word. Here’s an 8 minute video documenting this year’s Voodoo Jam, an event that Terry Adams not only competes in but organizes as well. Click play and check out one of Terry’s busiest days of the year.

Voodoo Pre-jam 2009
Terry’s going to be traveling around the country over the next 2 months and he has some Red Bull demos lined up on his schedule. Most of the demos are on college campuses so if you live in any of the following cities, keep an eye out for the Red Bull crew and Terry.
Some of the clips in this are pretty hard to watch but it’s good seeing it though since it really puts into perspective how just one crash can really affect your life. Mikey’s been through a lot this past year and this video takes you through his highs and lows. His road to recovery continues to progress and you can trail along at MikeAitken.com. While there, make sure to hit up the Vigilantia section. It’s a great way to rock some cool threads while showing support for one of BMX’s largest inspiration and influence.
Chase Gouin sent us a DVD a few weeks ago and it was filled with enough clips for a couple edits. What you see above is part one and part two will be hitting the internet sometime next week. Below is a little message from Chase regarding the clips:
Here are just a few little combos to give an example of what I’ve been up to lately at my local practice spot. They are obviously much older style tricks/variations, with brakes and kicking and scuffing and all that crap… haha. Basically early-mid 90’s type stuff that I was messing around with. I hope you enjoy it for what it’s worth. Either way, I was on my bike and putting in a bit of effort, making some small progress. All the best to everyone in your personal riding sessions. New “Socket Drive” Interface
This 9-sided sprocket interface has been designed as a new standard for sprocket fitting. It can be built into the spindle on 2-piece cranks like the Twombolt, or it can be incorporated into the arm on 3-piece cranks.
A new interface seemed to be a necessary development because sprockets have become smaller across the board. On anything less than a 25-T there starts to be a heavy concentration of stress around the drive bolt and the sprocket teeth. Switching to a closer spaced sprocket bolt is one solution, but that also increases the stress on the sprocket as the same torque applied at a closer radius results in a much larger contact force.

Here’s some more Chase Hawk footage lurking around on the web. This one comes in the form of a Vans advert, inter-spliced with riding and hip blasting inverts. He didn’t mention anything about rocket boosters being integrated into his shoes though so the source of his incredible boosting abilities still remains a vague mystery.
I promise this will be our last X-Games 15 related post and guarantee you’ll like it more than the others. Here’s a little highlight reel featuring Gary Young, Chase Hawk and Aaron Ross. Although Aaron didn’t make it into the street finals, he still managed to throw down some of the hardest tricks of the day. Chase blasted around like usual and boosted one of the largest 180s ever and Gary Young plunged into the deep end as a setup to one of the park’s hardest transfer lines. Click play, then clap.
Terry Adam’s annual Voodoo Jam happened this past weekend in New Orleans and here’s what he had to say about it:
The contest was awesome! I wound up getting 3rd place. We had over 600 people packed in the night club for the finals and the head to head battles went off! Thanks again for the product and support. We gave the top 3 from the amateur class all Odyssey and Flatware gear, so they were stoked for sure.
