Dragons, elephants and more Gary Young
Yo Dudes,
My trip to Thailand was amazing! We rode some really awesome stuff, including elephants. All of the Thai riders that we met were so hospitable, and the Thai smile really is infectious. Everywhere we went, we were met by smiling faces. It was really quite nice, with the exception of the sun dial that was shaped like a half pipe… but we were expecting to get kicked off of that thing.
Unfortunately at the end of the trip I twisted my knee. It was on this weird road gap, when I pulled up in the air, my hand slipped off the grip. In hindsight, I fell victim to the humidity.
Talk soon,
Gary

Mike Vincent Benefit Ride
There’s a Mike Vincent benefit ride happening next month in the LA area and rather than just post details about it, Brian Tunney decided to interview Mike for the ESPN site. In it, you can learn a little more about his accident and his background in BMX. Details about the event are below:
It’s a 27-mile ride throughout the Los Angeles area, with a raffle and t-shirts being sold afterwards. Last year, the event raised over $2200, and they’re currently seeking donations for this year’s raffle. The event goes down on April 5, 2009 at 12:30 PM. If you’re in the L.A. area, come out and enjoy the ride. And if you’re a company looking to donate prizes towards the raffle, your donations are very welcome.
If you’d like to make a contribution or need additional information on how to donate to the cause, please e-mail nicelyd(at)verizon[dot]net.
And if you’ve got a box of swag you’re looking to donate (t-shirts, bike gear, backpacks, artwork, anything), here’s the mailing address:
Level 3 Post; Attn: Jeff Stroot
2901 W. Alameda Ave.
Burbank, CA 91505
In living color
We just got a big shipment in and inside some of the boxes were these red and blue tires! They come in Path and Mike Aitken treads and are all decorated with tanwalls. Skid through your current set and get a new pair of these to match your Rocky Balboa shorts!
They’re shipping next week so you should be able to get your hands on them very, very soon!

MIKE AITKEN RAFFLE BIKE WINNER
Sometimes life works in mysterious ways….
A while back when 50/50 was accepting donations to benefit Mike Aitken, we had offered up our 2008 Interbike show bike (Gold Zinc S&M L.T.F. w/ Odyssey Purple Rain parts kit) as an added bonus for people to donate. Donate 10 bucks, you might win a bike that’s worth over a $1,000.00. Simple.
As time went on, people graciously donated and names were accumulated. 50/50 then gave us a list of all those names for us to pick a winner…
From there, we entered all the names into the random number generator once for every $10 that was donated. So, if you donated 30 bucks, your name was entered 3 times, and so on…
So, low and behold, John “Superfly” Skvarla ended up being the winner. I couldn’t believe it. This is crazy because I basically grew up riding with Supes, and this would totally look shady. However, it is not, and Supes won the bike fair and square, as shown in the picture above.
Congrats to Supes, and everyone who donated so generously to Mike. Over $50,000.00 was raised for Aitken.
