1000 years! (30 days?)
“For 15 years, American-made S&M Pitchforks have set the strength and reliability standards by which all other forks are judged…”
Until 1999, when Odyssey introduced the 41-Thermal process. Now, five years later, every company in BMX, including S&M, is pursuing “lightweight” forks and “heat-treated” tubing in hopes of reaching the precedent set by the same company that once brought you products as ridiculous as the Barefeet Tire and the Leading Edge saddle in the mid 1980

Nobody really likes public transport. We would all rather drive ourselves to our destination. Door to door with our own timetable and agenda. Unfortunately there is a flip side to this. I am not talking about congested roads or the coming apocalypse of global warming. No. Simply that nobody likes public transport and public transport doesn’t like us…. If you don’t believe me go down to the railway station and ask for a ticket to say London. You may at first think that the guy at the counter is trying to guess your mobile phone number but no, that really is the price he expects you to pay! Now turn to him and tell him you want to take a bicycle with you. He may openly laugh in your face so brace yourself and don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Front Brakes anyone…

DIRT PATH tire
Here is a sneek peek at the new “DIRT PATH” tire.
The “DIRT PATH” is similar in design to our regular PATH tire, but is a bit beefier and knobier for dirt.
A big plus for the DIRT PATH is that it will have, unlike most front dirt tires, dual ply sidewalls. This means the sidewalls will hold up better than other dirt tires from street/grinding wear and tear.
The DIRT PATH will come in a 20×2.2 size only, and should be available by the end of July, so start saving up now.
2.5hrs to Vegas
Ryan Sher and I were in a race/rally to Vegas. Starting in Hollywood and ending in Miami, we went on the Hollywood to Vegas leg. It was pretty crazy, some guys flew thier cars over from europe. Rich people have to do some crazy things to have fun. I wasn’t as much a race as an excuse to drive fast and party at the stops everynight. We did get to drive on a race course, it was nuts.
We drove Ryans Trans Am.
Enjoy.

Bottom Bracket Compendium
*This article first appeared in Ride UK (#77) and is reproduced here by kind permission of Ride UK.
You may remember that 2 years ago in issue 58 I wrote about the new Euro Bottom brackets that were starting to pop up on some frames. I also predicted that there would be some other new standards to look forward to. Well now they seem to be starting to come through so I thought now would be a good time to try to review the whole lot… Hold on to your hats, it’s going to be dull…
Monolevers
-These are NOT available yet. These are PROTOTYPES. We will tell you when they are coming out, when we know.
– Three lever handle shapes options will be available. The handle shapes are small (as shown in Transworld(TOP)), medium (MIDDLE) and trigger (identical to the original trigger lever shape(LOWER)). They all use the same 7/8, front clamping, slim bracket.
– The pivot and clamp hardware is identical and replaceable to address the possible long-term thread stripping issues that can happen with most levers.
– single cable only(hence the name MONOlever)
– A dual cable (modulever) version that uses the same lever shapes will be available at a later date.
Four is the magic number
This weekend, at the Vans triple crown, Mike Aitken and Gary Young got fourth place in Dirt and Street, respectively. I heard their runs were awesome, and everyone in Salt Lake had a good time.
Congrats to them, even though I bet they were more fun to watch then 1st-3rd. But I wasn’t even there, so who am I to talk, or to bet…I was in Atlantic City avoiding “tonys” and loosing money. Craps doesn’t have as good odds as they say. I just continued to say “crap”. Maybe I should have bet on 4 on the the roulette table.
