Finally got back from Interbike in Las Vegas on Thursday night after driving and flying for the best part of 24 hours… It is great to see everyone and catch up, but those long haul flights aren’t a lot of fun…
INTERBIKE. thats it its over
Yes it was a tandem.
It was a hit at the show. The first part of the first day, people were impressed, but scared to ride it. After the first couple patrons bombed up and down the aisles, it caught on. The bike was out of the booth more than it was in it, for the rest of the show. NORA cup winner Matthias Dondois was doing spinning front wheel manuvers, and Jimmy Le Van figured out how to bunny hop it. It was wild. Good times. Thanks to Jason Ball and Neal Wood at S&M for making the frame for us.
Nuno and Jim at the dry erase voice bubble wall. It got hit up a lot, and many pictures were taken, insulting your friends.
This was impressive. Ashton (left) and Chad (right) used the incubator boxes to build that wheel from scratch! There were spokes, nipples, hubs, and rims in the display and these guys from Pedal and Spoke ltd in North Aurora, IL took it upon themselves to build that wheel using the gloves. Let me tell you, it couldn’t have been easy with no screwdrivers or spoke wrenches and bulky gloves on. Nice team work.
Someone, who will remain unnamed, accidentally sold a prototype fork the last day of the show. So if you bought a Race fork from the booth we would love it back. We will send you a new fork, and something else of your choice for free. If you won’t send it back, at least let us know how its doing. Kinda like Airwolf I guess.
INTERBIKE/SHOW BIKE
The Odyssey staff, along with everyone else from the bike industry, will be at Interbike all this week. So if you call or email, please be patient with us. We will get back to you when we return. However, there will be someone here, should you need help.
As a sneak peak, here is a pic of one of our sweet show bikes that weighs only 38 pounds.
Directors
Im psyched on how quick the Director forks have been popping up on the internets, considering we just started releasing them not to long ago.
Here are a few random ones i came across today.
NEW EVOLVER 2 BRAKE COLORS
New Evolver 2 brake colors shipping now.
-Teal
-Black Chrome
-Lavender
-Raw
-White
-Copper
The Evolver 2 brakes also have the following running changes:
1. New forge tooling that provides for a sleeker side profile.
2. All of the cable set screws are now flat-tipped to prevent excess damage to the cable’s inner wire.
3. Cable lugs are smaller and use a 10mm hex head.
4. Pre-lugged straddle cable is shorter.
5. Front cable adapter is smaller and made of aluminum.
6. Updated instruction sheet.
The arm’s forged design requires only minor secondary machining. The benefit of using this approach is that we can maximize the part’s strength while minimizing its retail cost.
B-U-S-Y.
As you may have guessed, things are hectic around here because we’re preparing for Interbike next week.
A new shipment is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday or Thursday, and we’ll post some info on the contents after it gets here.
Somebody asked about photos of the copper Lumberjack Bars:
Plegs Update…
If you haven’t already seen it, there is a progress update about the Plegs over at the Odyssey site. Stop by to see where we are and what the testers of the Plegs have to say about them.
FRIDAY SMORGASBORD
Somebody asked about white Trailmix pedals a week or two ago. Here’s a photo, although I’m not sure when these will be available. (My guess would be a month or two.) Gold and high-polished will be in shops in 3-4 weeks, pending inspection.
CHASE GOUIN BARS
These are in the final stages of testing, and should be available relatively soon. I’ll post an update when I have more. The 6 degree back and upsweep model will be out first.
Chase “B.S. Bar”: 8 inches tall // 26 inches wide // 6 degrees upsweep // 6 degrees backsweep // 1 lb. 9.5 oz. // Black // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty
Chase “No B.S. Bar”: 7.675 inches tall // 25 inches wide // 3 degrees upsweep // 0 degrees backsweep // 1 lb. 9 oz. (approx.) // Black // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty
2007.75 FLATLAND FORKS
While we’re talking about flatland, the Classic Flatland Forks are in production for zero and regular offset, and should be available within the next month or two. We will be making these in small batches, so this should give us the freedom to change options depending on the order. For example, we’d be able to do future batches of the regular offset with “removable mounts”, or the zero offset fork with “no mounts”, and so on. “Director-style” Flatland forks are a possibility, but there are no solid plans as of this date.
Regular Offset Fork: 2 lbs. 2 oz. (uncut 190mm steerer tube with pre-load bolt installed) // Tapered legs are pushed inward and notched on the inside // 5mm “regular offset” dropouts with radiused outer edges // Extended “Classic Race” steerer tube with 07 crown junction and front cable slot // 3/8” axle slots // flush-mount, cable friendly, 7075 pre-load bolt // Welded brake mounts // Rustproof finishing prior to powdercoating // Black, Limited // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty
Zero Offset Fork: 2 lbs. 3 oz. (uncut 190mm steerer tube with pre-load bolt installed) // Tapered legs are pushed inward and notched on the inside // 5mm “zero offset” dropouts with radiused outer edges // Extended “Classic Race” steerer tube with 07 crown junction and front cable slot // 3/8” axle slots // flush-mount, cable friendly, 7075 pre-load bolt // Removable brake mounts // Rustproof finishing prior to powdercoating // Black, Limited // 41-Thermal Lifetime Warranty
