Mike Aitken Bike Check 2

New Bike check for Mike Aitken, caught up with him over at the LG US championships. Everybody rode good, and Mike ended up in 2nd place overall.
He and Gary (11th) and Mike Parenti, and Taj, and Sergio Layos(to name only a few) rode great.
Mike was riding his new bike so I shot some photos. He is pretty psyched about how light it is. It is basically one of our show bikes from interbike.

Grips, Chicks, Stitches

Gary Young was here today and he took a bunch of his grips. Thats right, the Gary Young, Rich Hirsch and Adam Banton grips are here. They will be shipping out within a week or so, so go to your local bike shops and wait by the door.

Jim C is still over in Europe with Ryan Sher. Last I heard they were making the women in Madrid crazy with thier American charms.

Mike Aitken got hurt on the Square One trip but he’s already better. Just some stitches, but word to the wise when you get cut, get it checked out and cleaned cause you don’t want an infection. That makes anything 10 times worse. I’ll be going out to Utah to ride with Mike and Matt in the next few weeks, so I am pretty psyched.

Gary Young got second at the backyard jam in the U.K. Good job.
Must have been those signature grips he’s riding. Get those and you to will get second at upcoming backyard jams and x games events*

The Odyssey video should be heading off to duplication within a couple off days. This means that it will be out soon.

Avoid bicycle maintenance bloodlust

*This article first appeared in Ride UK (#72) and is reproduced here by kind permission of Ride UK.

A few months ago I did a tech column moaning about how the parts for your bike often don’t fit together very well, hopefully some people found it interesting but I later realised that it wasn’t a fat lot of use to most riders. So this month, rather than rattle on about some deep technical issue, I thought it would be more helpful to describe some of the less well known “tricks” that can make your life a hell of a lot easier when it comes to mending your bike.

EURO BB

In keeping with the times, here is our version of the EURO BB. There’s nothing wildly innovative here, but it does say Odyssey on the cups which looks cool once put on the bike. The kit comes with everything shown above and is available now.

Signature Grips

Here is a sneak peak at the Odyssey signature grips that will be available within a couple of weeks. The grips will be for Adam Banton (guitars), Gary Young (pre worn) and Rich Hirsch (alternating ribs). Gary’s and Rich’s are on the thin side, while Adam’s are on the thicker side. More signature grips will be coming out throughout the year, but dont hold me to that.
